Chris’ Notes: When I brought in the main heavy, mixed meter riff it sounded to Rafa like a Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) idea. When I mentioned I was never a big listener of Iommi, he stated in no uncertain terms, “too bad, its Iommi!” The working title was ‘Chris/Iommi’. I had been working on lyrical ideas for a song yet to be determined that became most of the verses lyrics. Without knowing yet my lyrical direction, Rafa felt I should consider writing lyrics about breaking out, or through. There is no one way to write a song, but this one seems to be telling us what it should be about and came together by ‘backing into’ the Breaking Through concept and joining the lyrics I had already been working on. The end result: powerful!

Verse 1:
Troubled, troubles without number seem to surround me/Blinded, blinded by fear in this pit of despair/Overtaken by an enemy I cannot see/On my own strength I find I cannot break free/

Chorus:
Out of the darkness, I have come/Chains are broken, this battle is won/No longer weak, this race I can run/I found the strength in you to finish strong/I’m breaking through/

Verse 2:
Crying, crying out to You/You've heard my plea/Rising, rising, lifting me up, out of this miry clay/On wings like an eagle my vision now clear/No longer shadowed by deceit and fear/

Bridge:
Am I fooling myself seeking a lie?/Dreaming? am I chasing a dream or my purpose in life?/Reveal to me what I should be/This one life that You’ve given to me/Seeds of greatness planted within/There’s no time to waist any longer
