Chris’ Notes: When I brought in the main heavy, mixed meter riff it sounded to Rafa like a Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) idea. When I mentioned I was never a big listener of Iommi, he stated in no uncertain terms, “too bad, its Iommi!” The working title was ‘Chris/Iommi’. I had been working on lyrical ideas for a song yet to be determined that became most of the verses lyrics. Without knowing yet my lyrical direction, Rafa felt I should consider writing lyrics about breaking out, or through. There is no one way to write a song, but this one seems to be telling us what it should be about and came together by ‘backing into’ the Breaking Through concept and joining the lyrics I had already been working on. The end result: powerful!
