Chris’ Notes: The first verse to me has an interesting contrast of optimistic lyrics set against a monolithic, heavy brooding guitar riff (in a drop B tuning). It’s working title was ‘Bionic Self’ as coined by Rafa who upon us jamming on the riff, challenged me to consider the idea of technology moving exponentially faster than humanity can keep up with. I went for that idea in the second verse with how our insatiable appetite for advancement can be at the spoils of it’s success. It seems we chase a kind of utopia often down a path that can have a malevolent outcome. I found myself drawing inspiration from Ecclesiastes; several U2 songs; Sting’s ‘Driven To Tears’ & ‘History Will TeachUs Nothing’ as well as Rafa’s own ‘Magnetico’ song ‘Indigenous’. Rafa’s arranging skills brought this one to whole new level; Johnny’s powerful vocals and Randy’s drum work makes it ROCK... harder!

Verse 1:
Imagine a brand new day/Where apathy’s gone away/Compassion and justice reign/No poverty, no wars remain/

Chasing Utopia, truth or lie?/Friend or the enemy you decide/Chasing Utopia its time to see/Only the truth can set us free/

Verse 2:
Consumed by our own progress/Blind to the spoils of its success/
What is the price we pay?/Loosing site of Your way/

The way of man can seem so right/But in the end it’s our demise/To this world I will not conform/By the Truth I am transformed/I once was blind but now I see/The way that we were meant to be/Wipe away every tear/Removing every hidden fear/

I've seen all things under the sun/All of them are meaningless
without You/Like chasing the wind
